EHS Class of ‘59 Updates…2019

BACH, Chris and Lynn:  I do not have much news to add to that I provided 5 years ago except that parents, sons, and daughter are all 5 years older. The sons and daughter are all doing well—much better than I ever anticipated—in their selected professions as librarian, computer programmer and educator, and custom furniture designer and maker. Travel for me and my wife consists of visits to Boston, Chicago, and Durham, North Carolina to visit them and 3 grandchildren. This is the reverse of when I was young, and the children visited the grandparents. I continue to cultivate my small rose garden and have dabbled in making glass jewelry, but really have not found an activity to occupy the majority of my time. I find that I miss more than I anticipated my contacts with economists at the Federal Reserve Board and my leadership position in improving the statistical estimates included in the gross national product and income statistics (GNP) that I produced at the Bureau of Economic Analysis, U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington DC.

BAIR, Chuck and Carole Rengel (’60): An eventful five years indeed! First, we discovered that Carole has Parkinson’s Disease, then a hurricane hits Naples and damages our place as well as the sea wall, a series of forest/wild fires hit our area, a local (Borderline) shooting takes place, another forest/wild fire takes place, and we have two construction projects going on. God is good though because in that time four of our 8 grandkids have started college, the lives of our three kids (two over fifty) are great, the place in Florida has been repaired, our home addition is coming to completion, and the LA Rams are here.

BATCHELDER, Jane Strong: Continue to work full time for the County State's Attorney's Office directing the Volunteer/Intern Program.  In the past five years have campaigned for the boss(es) both which lost and the present one was the loser four years ago.  I bargained with her and cut back to part-time in January committing to at least cover the summer with hopes of hiring and training my replacement.  It is rewarding to have several attorneys in the office who started in our program while in college (one as a high school senior).
Have enjoyed vacations locally and in Europe.  My family and I have had season tickets to U of Maryland Women's basketball game since they won the Championship in 2006.  Quite a difference from our girls’ games under Miss Cooper. This is truly my time of year and have not lost my passion for UK and IU teams.

BEADLNG Hines, Joyce and Scott: This year Scott and I celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary…not bad for a second marriage! Our 6 children have given us a total of 13 grandchildren and 2 step-grandkids; no great-grands yet, just a grand dog!  The grandchildren range from ages 7 to 32! I call our Ligonier home “The Hines Hotel and Storage”.  Seems like one of our kids or grandkids is often at our door, either for a visit and/or to store something(s) in our basement. We divide our time between Ligonier and Florida along with our two cats. I guess you could say that our Class of ’59 has become my hobby. It has kept me busy, plus given me great rewards…getting to know our classmates as adults.   I also garden, read, bike, shoot sporting clays, barely golf, help at church, etc., etc., and so forth. In 2015, Scott and I traveled to Israel…fantastic trip; last year I visited my sister Joan (Class of ’53) at her home in Berlin, Germany.  We took a side trip to London. Scott and I are healthy, not wealthy, nor wise, but we are enjoying life!  Greetings to ALL!

BOYNTON, Skip:  As a year-round resident of Florida, I get testy upon the arrival of snowbirds. By late January or early February, I am thinking Europe.  I normally check Alitalia for flight specials. If unattractive, I check Air France. In January of 2017, Air France listed a round-trip direct flight Miami/CDG Paris for $480.00.  Afraid to leave the site, I picked 10 days in May and punched “Book It”. Found a reasonable shuttle to Nice. With three months to plan, I booked 3 nights in Cannes, 3 nights in Marseille, and 3 nights in Paris.  Visited Paris many times before, but never got to Montmartre.  Revisited Musee D’Orsay. Train service in Europe is great. It allowed day trips to Monte Carlo, and Nice.  In 2016 I visited Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. My 2015 itinerary included Venice, Milan/Lake Como, Bologna, and Rome.  Last year I went to Washington DC.  Revisited traditional “Smithsonian Institutions and, being partial to animals, the National Zoo. About the White House I observed a myriad of progressive protests… “God Help Us”.  Besides travel, my consuming favorite pastimes are reading, golf (when mobile friends are available), people observing, and face-to-face personal encounters.

CHAMP, Ron: My wife, Valjean and I had 3 children in the late 1960’s; Warren, Bethany and Tammy. unfortunately, Valjean passed away in 2016. I had 2 minor strokes in the fall of 2018, but I am doing better now.  I’m still living in Butler, PA and still the same house for over 50 years. I spend my time working with computers time to time, do pencil drawings, charcoal drawings, pen and ink drawings and paint modernistic type paintings once in a while using acrylic paints. I also do some volunteer work for my church. This might shock some people, but I enjoy singing in our church praise band. My Golden Retriever, Adina, has been trained as a therapy dog and we used to visit nursing homes in and around Butler County but daddy needs too much help anymore so we just can’t do it.  My son, Warren along with his wife, live in little Washington, PA and he works for LITOS as a senior project manager working as a subcontractor for the Army “trying” to improve their computer systems and bringing them up to the modern age.  My daughter, Bethany, lives in Butler, Pa and is a graphic artist for our local newspaper and my other daughter Tammy, along with her husband live near Butler, Pa and she is a Computer Science Professor at Butler County Community College. She also owns her own computer consulting business which deals mostly, with municipalities.

COATS, Jay and Cindy:  We remain living the easy life in The Villages in central Florida. We don’t travel much these days (Charleston will be a challenge) due to health issues—good days and bad days! My current interest is looking for a collector/show car. We are looking forward to seeing the group in Charleston. Sorry the others can’t come—would love to see all of them as well.

CONLEY, Judy Wolf and David:  I will not be able to attend the reunion due to my husband’s health problems. We enjoy the Florida life, especially the winters. The old saying, “There are no friends like old

friends” is so true. Thanks to Joyce for keeping us all in touch. Have a wonderful time!

DEMORE, Rich and Cindy: Cindy and I have now been married for 45 years and have lived in the same house on2½ acres for the last 40 years. We have three grown children: Dillon, Geoffrey and Natalie who are all married and live in Colorado. It was a long time coming but we now have four grandchildren to enjoy: Hagan 7 years old, Casen 5, Kayla 4 and Bria 2. Our companion dog is a 1½ year old female beagle named Bella. My hobbies include gardening, playing oldies but goodies songs on my saxophone and making wooden toys for the grandchildren in my workshop. Cindy’s hobby is quilting, quilting and more quilting.

DODD, Simchock, Susan and John: My husband John and I retired to Cape Cod and are enjoying our life here. We downsized to a ranch home in Falmouth.  Our oldest son Scott lives in Connecticut with his wife Paula and our only grandchild, Hannah, who will be 17 in April.  Steve is single and lives in Bellingham, MA. I am involved in church and play a lot of bridge. I had a double bypass 3 years ago and recovered very quickly.  We have traveled a lot over the past 15 years: Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, most of Europe, the Caribbean, and the U.S. We are now limiting our travel to under 9 hours. Those long flights are tough! I am looking forward to the reunion and to catching up with everyone.

Earhart, Jan and Jim Carazola
How quickly time flies, especially as we get older.  I cannot believe we are approaching 80 years old in a few years! I also can't believe it's been 25 years since my daughter, Jamie's, auto accident, and that I've been her caregiver for that long.  It has been a joy and a heartbreak.
My family continues to enjoy our season tickets to Broadway Across America series--30 years and counting. We've even made a few trips to NY to experience the "real" Broadway theater.
Both Jim and I have large families so love our yearly reunions, alternating between families. In the past two years, we've visited the mountains of Portland, OR and the shore of Cape Cod.
The sad news for the Earhart family is the passing of my brother, Chuck, from Alzheimer's disease.  I cherished my volunteer work as the art director of his nursing home, however, it was quite sad seeing him decline from being my helper to unable to participate in the art projects at all.  God bless all of you who are helping take care of families and loved ones who need extra care.
Enjoy the reunion.  Please take and post pictures so those of us who cannot attend are able to enjoy a bit of it
 All the best, Jan

FLEMING, Glenn:  I continue working at Koch Funeral Home because I like working and I like what I do. My son Steve is a lawyer living in St. College with his family. My daughter Rebecca is a nurse in Colorado. I have had great pleasure seeing my grandchildren's' progress through school and then watching them move on to their first career jobs. I don't travel often; mainly once a year to Palm Desert, CA, where I have a time share.  Looking forward to Charleston and seeing everyone from the EHS Class of '59!

HAWLEY Barr, Penny and Gary Tate: Last time we got together, I was working at a prestigious law firm. I refused to retire till I achieved 25 years on board and that finally happened 2 1/2 years ago.  After a few months and enjoying getting up at 8 a.m instead of 6 a.m, I decided to do some volunteer work.  I deliver food to shut-ins one day a week and volunteer at Hospice one day a week. That still gives me time to keep in touch with family here in Charlotte (my 84-yr. old sister also a graduate of EHS) and stay in touch with other friends and family.  Last year Gary & I flew to Rome, got on a cruise ship and saw France, Spain, Italy, and Gibraltar.  Gary drives big tour buses once or twice a week which he enjoys, and we play bridge once a week with friends.  Our little poodle keeps us in shape as we walk with her 3-4 times a day and the Charlotte weather is perfect for that exercise.  We welcome anyone from our EHS family to visit if life brings you to Charlotte.

HOLDEN, Hamm, Susan and Tommy: Tommy and I now live in Golden, Colorado, near our oldest of three sons. We love living in Colorado. We could not have picked a better place to live during our golden years. I’m happy to share with you that I have written and had published a Christian Children’s Fairy Tale titled The Sweet Little Kingdom of Lollipops especially for girls 6-12 years old. I do not sell the books... I have greater pleasure in giving them away free. If anyone would like me to send them a book(s), just email me, or call, and I will mail as many as they want. I feel that if the right person discovers the book, it will become a best seller

HOOVER, Iva Hinkelman: I have been living in Las Vegas for over 18 years and continue to be busy with various volunteer commitments.  There is an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute here at UNLV and I have been participating for the last 5 years...taking 5 classes this semester.  I usually visit my sister in FL each year, but never seem to get to the NE.  Hope you have a great reunion.... thanks to Joyce.

HUBER, Jack and Russell: After EHS, I graduated from Dartmouth College and Duke Law School, married Russell, a Duke undergrad, in 1965, and moved to Atlanta in 1967.  Before that, I practiced law briefly in Pittsburgh, but most of my career has been investment counseling.  I founded J.L. Huber & Associates, a registered investment advisor, in 1985 and remain active with a modest, delightful client base.  Russell and I bought our one and only home (yes, it’s stone :) in 1968 and have been privileged to enjoy it for over 50 years.  We raised two children, Heather and Brian, both of whom also live in Atlanta.  Heather is single and Brian, married, with wife Leslie and two fine sons, Campbell (18) and Jamie (15).  While at EHS, Paul McLain, Chuck Bair, and I worked summers at Iron City Fishing Club, Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada.  A long story, but I was invited to join the club in 1986.  Since then I have been quite active at ICFC, having served as president, while we enjoy splendid summers vacationing in Canada.  I am a passionate muskellunge or “muskie" hunter.  Russell and I live on a golf course in Atlanta, and enjoy golf, walking, gardening, bridge, collecting American impressionism, and travel.  We are dedicated landscape gardeners and have been invited several times to participate in the Atlanta Botanical Garden's annual May garden tour.  Each year 10 gardens are selected, and in 2015, 3600 “guests” visited our home and garden during the two-day event.  A truly memorable experience.  In late May we are traveling to southern England (the Kent, Sussex region), with visits to gardens at Gravetye, Great Dixter, and Sissinghurst, an opera at Glynebourne, evensong at Canterbury Cathedral, and golf at Royal St. George in Sandwich.  We will also attend the Chelsea Flower Show in London.  We are blessed with good health, and remain quite active, despite a bunch of knee and hip replacements…. the result of too much jogging and 10ks.  We are excited to see classmates, spouses, and friends in Charleston.

KENNON, Karen Schwarzbach:  I have been well. I continue to spend several hours several days a week working with Meals for Friends, a small, independent meals on wheels program a few community members and I began in 2014.  It has become my passion and certainly keeps me off the street.

The oldest of my six grandchildren will be graduating from college in May and I will travel to Virginia to be there for the event.  I have been most fortunate to be able to watch my grandchildren grow up and become real people.

Best wishes to all of you!

LIGHT, Phil: I don't know if this qualifies as a profile or not but here goes: "Still enjoying my retirement with my wife, taking care and visiting our three properties in PA and NC, volunteering for non-paying jobs with various non-profit organizations such as the Westmoreland County Historical Society, Penn State Master Gardeners and various other area historical societies. I just completed a project for the Fort Ligonier Education Department which involved super imposing the 18th century landscape, particularly the 1758 Pleydell Plan of Fort Ligonier, onto the 21st century landscape resulting in a high-resolution aerial view of the area. I am two-thirds through a three-year project with the Braddock's Road Preservation Society giving various presentations concerning the Braddock's and Forbes Campaigns of 1755 & 1758 along with organizing yearly bus tours and collaborating with various authors, professors and other interested persons on same. I just started a project with the Jacob Creek Watershed Association assisting with the placement of a play ground near an historical site in Fayette County associated with the 1755 Braddock's Campaign. That's enough to put anyone to sleep particularly people of our age but that's what I do :-)"

MCINTOSH Hill, Cathy and Bob: Bob and I have been traveling as much as possible while we’re still able.  Last year we cruised the Douro River in Portugal before birding in southeast Arizona with Bob chronicling both trips with his camera.  Peru was the big adventure this past November, where we began by cruising and birding the Upper Amazon and its tributaries.  Then on to the Andes, where we visited the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Cusco, the highest elevation on our trip.  By the time Edgewood classmates gather in April, we will have spent two weeks in Costa Rica, a portion of it with the entire family.  Three more travel commitments after April will take us to France in July, northwest Mexico in December and the granddaddy of all eco travel, Kenya and Tanzania in February 2020.

MCLAIN, Paul and GIBSON McLain, Joan: We live in Walla Walla, in the southeastern corner of the beautiful State of Washington. We enjoy good health, living in Walla Walla, and being with one another. Although not located close by, our children, Barbara and David of Federal Way, WA and Bruce and Heather of Rosenberg, TX are a great joy to us as they live their lives and make us proud. Church activities and ministries are fulfilling to us, and we attend local live theater regularly. We enjoy road trips throughout the Great Northwest. Paul practices medicine part-time, is director of a free clinic, and serves on various medical center boards and committees. Joan keeps busy tending house and gardens and enjoys quilting and sewing. God blesses us abundantly. We’re anxious to see all of you and be a part of the 60th reunion of the Greatest EHS Class ever!

MORGAN, Ginny Stahlsmith:  In the last 5 years I have traveled to the Pacific Northwest to take a cruise on the paddle boat The Empress on the Columbia and Snake Rivers. Fabulous scenery plus a fun boat. A cruise on a Viking River Cruise in Holland included the spectacular Keukenhof Gardens during the tulip season, breath taking.  Highly recommend a trip across the Erie Canal that included Montreal, Quebec, the St. Lawrence River, The Thousand Islands, as well as the Freedom Tower in NYC. My bucket list trip was a cruise to Hawaii starting in Seattle where my daughter and her family live, included Victoria Island, Vancouver, and of course the islands of Hawaii…too beautiful!!  I sang our alma mater to myself when I heard the music played in Hawaii!!!!  Have continued to spend a few weeks in Sanibel every winter and summers at Chautauqua with my family. Fun to see the grandchildren who keep growing up!!! The biggest change is that I’ve moved to the retirement community, Longwood at Oakmont, just up the hill from the US Open for all the golfers!!!! I’m very happy here. This year’s big trip is to our reunion so see all of you there!!

MOUNT Reymann, Patsy and Joe:  During the past 5 years my husband Joe and I have celebrated our 55th wedding anniversary and welcomed 6 new great-grandchildren. We continue to live near St. Paul, Minnesota, but travel now and then to numerous places. In 2014 we had a memorable Viking River Cruise on the Danube in Eastern Europe.  To keep busy and out of trouble, I give piano lessons one night a week and serve various organizations as a Professional Registered Parliamentarian (a meeting and bylaws consultant versed in Robert’s Rules of Order). In addition, I like to read books on my Kindle, putter in our garden, and admire the flora and fauna wherever we are.  Two of our 3 children live in the area with their spouses (spice?). Sad to say, our middle child, his wife, and their teenagers live near Dallas – a good place to visit but a long way to go for get-togethers. Right after college I moved away from my family, too, so I have no right to complain (but I will a little bit anyway). The grandchildren (11 of them) are starting to drift away as they grow up and spread their wings.

Looking forward to seeing classmates at our 60th! Thanks to the committee for putting all of this together.
Pat Norelli:  I have won TWELVE Super Bowls in my life.

NEISEMANN Ferguson, Kathi:  Since Jim died in 2014 and then I retired, life has been a little “been there done that, “déjà vu, and same old same old. No one has invited me to go sky diving again or mountain climbing, or car racing. However I do have fun with the activities I do mostly over and over again…By ushering at the Benedum about twice a month I get to see most of the shows (recently enjoyed Hamilton), playing Bridge once a week and 500 once a month keeps my brain working, having breakfast with six to 10 friends every other week keeps me informed (we have solved the world’s problems a number of times, but the politicos thwart our efforts), and editing and putting together Verona Community Newsletter every three months, I feel I am contributing…When we have our 80th Birthbash (still sends shivers down my spine), I will probably write ditto, ditto, ditto, déjà vu again.  I will probably write ditto, ditto, ditto, déjà vu again.

REED, Ron and Claire: Traveling a lot, mostly international until now.  Visited 53 countries and my wife 50.  Switching to domestic travel, especially interesting sites in the southwest, mid-west, and northeast, many of which we visited years ago when our children were younger.  We never take a tour except for cruises.  I plan everything because I enjoy the learning experience.  We do a lot with our two sons and our five grandchildren because both are located within a one day's drive and have very interesting high

tech jobs. We are both in good health and are able to travel extensively around the globe (about 160 countries so far).   We have returned to many countries many times. My passion is sports car racing and sports cars in general, a big deal in Florida.  I plan to work as a SCCA track worker as soon as I am certified.  I am a confirmed foodie, constantly chasing interesting dining opportunities globally.  My waist line tells all.  Both my wife and I are in better that average health.  No chronic problems yet.  Enjoying life.

ROTH, Roz Sky:  Phil has been gone for over a year and I’m trying to adjust to my new life, which is tough, for sure. So far, it’s one day at a time!  It’s a job trying to keep busy. Is anyone hiring? I’d be a great greeter! My highlight this year was receiving the Honorary Alumni Award from Penn State. The award is given to a non-graduate (I did graduate from Pitt), who has made significant contributions towards the welfare, reputation and prestige of the university. I’ve served on many different boards, in many capacities, and volunteer in many different venues. My favorite is being an “Athletic Concessionaire” at the Adler Sports Complex. We had established a scholarship STAR (Special Team Always Remember) honoring the 2012 team, a trust Fund supporting the Sheetz Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence, and a gift supporting the Port-Sky Café on the Altoona Campus. I enjoy volunteer work and especially love reading to the young!  Luckily my son and daughter still live in Altoona. My four grandchildren are focused on what they love. Sam is in California involved with cannabis. Tyler is a commercial pilot at Embry Riddle in Daytona. Mandy is a freshman at the University of Delaware. She just came back from a two-week course in Israel. Casey is a senior and will be going to Penn State starting this summer majoring in Communications. I’m so very proud of each of them!!

My motto is “Live, Love, and Laugh” and I try to spread the joy a long way!

SCOTT, Jim and Mary Lou:  After 14 years of RVing we traded the RV for a hut in the sun located in Tucson, the source of blue skies and sunshine.  We traveled by air to Newark and return Tucson, summers in Tucson and winters in Ohio. The Ohio stay was for family holidays and football.  I wrote business software for a buddy when I returned home for 6 months, squeezed in doctor check-ups before returning to Tucson.  While in Tucson the days are filled up with Friday dinners, pool hours, game parties and doing odd jobs around the resort.  We have more friends in Tucson than in Ohio and we keep in touch via a email bulletin. I keep my mind busy by hobbling with the computer and now training Alexa, along with the cactus garden in the yard.  And so it goes.

TAMARELLI, Wayne and CRAWFORD Tamarelli, Carol:   Our daughter and son and their families live within a half hour of our main house.  We have ten grandchildren (five boys and five girls. Ages 24, 22, 20, 18, 17, 15, 13, 13, 10, 7)).  We divide our non-travelling time between five places: Our main home in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, an apartment in Palo Alto, California (Wayne does business in the Silicon Valley area), two lake houses on Newfound Lake in Bridgewater, New Hampshire, a villa among our vineyards in Mendoza, Argentina, and a house shared with our partners among vineyards in Sonoma County, California.  Wayne plans to enjoy being half-retired forever, primarily investing in technology venture capital and helping manage non-profits.  In addition to travel he enjoys tennis, theater, music, reading, etc. Carol is very busy with grandchildren, gardening, etc.  In addition to travel she enjoys theater, music, reading, etc.

VLASAK, Stan and Susan: So far so good.  Our two kids, each have two kids who are growing up fast and live about 30 minutes from us so babysitting opportunities abound.  I still sing and play in the folk group, country duo and rock and roll group every other week.  In the summer I do yardwork, drive my 1954 MGTF and go sailing.  I am trying to do what my doctors say: "keep moving"!

WARD, Jack and Judy:
WHERE IN THE WORLD IS JACK WARD AND HOW DID HE GET THERE?

My first stop after our glorious high school years at EHS was the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN.  3 I lasted years, then went into the business of food brokerage with The John F. Ward Co, Pgh. Marriage to Bobbe, a Coraopolis girl whom I met at Pitt Night School, came shortly thereafter, and it produced two wonderful boys, John III and Douglas. Many great years followed, highlighted by a membership at the Pittsburgh Field Club and more birdies than shanks! I once shot 73 at Edgewood CC (my parents club) which is the highlight of my golfing career!

Then came divorce and a desire to move west.  California was the plan but along the way I stopped for a weekend in Steamboat Springs CO. to visit my friend and EHS class of 1958 graduate - Fritz Keck.  A year later I made it to the San Francisco area where I spent the next 40 years.  Glorious years they were! first in Sausalito, then Larkspur and finally Novato - all in Marvelous Marin County.  I met Judy Cochran in Sausalito and we married 11 years later.  We have now been together for 40 years and along the way have traveled to many countries around the world and enjoyed every trip.  We share a love for good food, fine wines, and exciting times, then and now.

For work I spent the early years in commercial real estate and then switched to financial services with Dean Witter, which became Morgan Stanley.  I retired in 2007 and started an oil investment company in Texas, which I still run today.  I had big plans for my oil career, but fate had other ideas, so in 2015 we sold our home in Novato and moved east. What a sight we were, one Jeep SUV with a storage bin on top, two white Standard Poodles named Teddybiscuit and Baron in the back seat, three cases of our best California wine in the rear, and a vague idea that we wanted to live near the Atlantic Ocean and swim in warm water!  Maybe Beaufort SC, or maybe Charleston, or maybe Savannah. We ended up in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida where we built a beautiful new home 3 miles from the ocean.  Once again, we found happiness - having moved, in our mind, from Paradise West to Paradise East!

These days we enjoy the excitement we find almost every day from new adventures here and in nearby Jacksonville and charming St Augustine.  We love all the fresh fish and seafood available to us and have embraced Shrimp & Grits, Pimento Cheese Spread, and St Augustine Oysters.   We both spend a lot of time at the local YMCA trying to offset all the good living.  I still spend a little time at golf.

Our boys have both done well.  John is a Urologic Oncologist with MD Anderson in Houston.  His wife is Dr. Julia Ward and they have 5 wonderful children; Doug owns a web development company in DC.  His wife Jessica L. Waters is Dean of Undergraduate Education and Vice Provost for Academic Student Services at American University and they have 2 wonderful boys.

Judy and I have been blessed with excellent health throughout the years.  Small problems occur occasionally but in the big picture we are quite fortunate.  We look forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming 60th High School Reunion - Celebrated in Charleston this year.   CHEERS!

YESSEL, Barbara Lewis:

I recall listening as a youngster to the radio show Grand Central Station and wanting to come to New York and find all the drama the show promised.  That show apparently had a profound effect on me, because I moved to New York on the day I graduated from college and have been here ever since.  Remarkably, our apartment is five blocks from Grand Central!    It turns out that New York is a great city for people our age.    Because everything can be delivered to our apartment and because we have lots of transportation options, we don’t need a car in the City.  We enjoy great theatre on and off Broadway, endless diversity of restaurants, world class art galleries, museums, music, dance, and health care.    Bill and I will celebrate our 40th anniversary this year.  In that time, we have travelled extensively in Europe and the Far East and go to Hawaii in the winter and London in the fall.    We spend summer weekends in Connecticut.  I loved practicing law but am grateful that I now have the time to draw or paint almost every day which is my real passion.   I have had success exhibiting and selling my work.     I am taking classes at the School for Visual Arts where most of the students are twenty-somethings.  Great experience to share a studio with them!    I’m keeping healthy with gym workouts, yoga, tennis, and a lot of walking.  I have two teenage step-granddaughters who also live in Manhattan and are living a very different life than I did in Edgewood HS.  As I write this they are on spring break in Rome.   Sorry to miss the reunion.  Best wishes to all, Barbara Lewis
